Guard Your Heart:

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."

(Proverbs 4:23)

The heart, in biblical terms, often refers not just to our emotions, but our thoughts, will, and innermost being. This #proverb is a poignant reminder of the importance of guarding it. Just as the body's health can be determined by the state of the heart, the spiritual and #emotional health of our lives can be gauged by the condition of our inner heart.

When our hearts are filled with #God's love, grace, and truth, our actions and words will naturally reflect His light. But if we allow bitterness, envy, or negativity to take root, it can influence every aspect of our lives. Guarding our heart is not about building walls, but nurturing it with God's Word, surrounding ourselves with godly influences, and constantly checking our #emotions and motives in the light of His truth.

"COURAGE"

“Be strong and courageous…”  (Joshua 1:6)

During these trying days, we remember the popular saying, “Not all heroes wear capes.”  These words resonate with us because we understand that the ability to show courage extends far beyond superhero characters.  Experience teaches us that we all can show courage in our day to day lives.  Courage, like other virtues, is not always demonstrated with big, dramatic actions.  Instead, it is demonstrated in small words and deeds, such as when we speak up for those without a voice or extend a helping hand to those who are in very difficult situations.  Because courage looks to help others, it is a very important virtue, especially today.  Indeed, as poet Maya Angelou has said, “Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can’t practice any other virtue consistently.”

Whoever lives by believing in me (Jesus said) will never die. Do you believe this?

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?'"

(John 11:25-26)

"In the face of death and mourning, Jesus offered hope and assurance. Through Him, death is not the end but a doorway to eternal life. His question at the end is poignant and personal: "Do you believe this?" It calls us to introspection, to reaffirm our faith, and to rest in the promise of eternal life with Him. For every heart heavy with grief or fear, these words serve as a beacon, reminding us that in Jesus, we are promised a life that death cannot diminish".

He makes me to lie down in green pastures; (Psalm 23:2)

“He makes me to lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside the still waters.” (Psalm 23:2)

In its own vivid way, the beautiful image of this verse calls us away from the chaos and crises of our world to a place of calmness and serenity. “Still waters,” however, is not talking about a far-fetched escapism, or an indifferent passivity to our world and a benign neglect of its problems. Instead, it is the stillness of a heaven-sent peace, knowing that the Good Shepherd walks with us through the all of life’s difficulties, protecting and caring for us. As you care for others, do not overlook yourself; be sure to take time to refresh your spirit. May our hearts be filled with this “peace which surpasses all understanding” (Philippians 4:7), today and every day.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower;

"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe."

Proverbs 18:10 (NIV)

As we journey through life, we will inevitably face challenges and difficulties. But in the midst of it all, we can take comfort in the fact that we have a powerful source of strength and protection - the name of the Lord.

Just as a strong tower provides safety and security from danger, the Lord offers us a place of refuge and safety. When we call upon His name and trust in His power, we can find strength and courage to face whatever comes our way.

So let us take heart and remember that in every moment of our lives, we have access to the unwavering protection and love of our Heavenly Father. May we find peace and security in His presence, knowing that He is our strong tower and our eternal refuge.

'The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.'

"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."

#Psalm 23 is one of the most well-known and beloved passages of the Bible, and for good reason. This beautiful psalm reminds us of the deep and abiding love that God has for us, and how He takes care of our every need. In this first verse, we are reminded that the #Lord is our shepherd and we lack nothing. When we trust in Him and allow Him to guide us, we can rest assured that we will always have everything we need.

"The LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest".

                             #Joshua 1:9

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the #LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou     goest.”

Imagine standing at the threshold of an entirely new phase in your life. Perhaps it's a new job, a new relationship, or even a new challenge that you didn't choose. The uncertainty can be paralyzing.

Joshua felt this acutely as he stepped into Moses' shoes—talk about intimidating. Yet, God's words to him are not suggestions, they are commands: "Be strong and #courageous." But God doesn't stop at commanding; He promises His eternal presence as our rock-solid reason for courage.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

 1 Peter 5:7

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” 6: Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7: Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

The race is not to the swift:

 “. . . The race is not to the swift . . .” (Ecclesiastes 9:11)

When life starts moving quickly, it’s easy to think that we are in a race, not a journey.  Looking around doesn’t help much, because we notice other people moving fast and think to ourselves, “Are we supposed to be racing them?”   In the phrase ‘the race is not to the swift,’ we are reminded to persevere, to press ahead, even if our pace is slower than usual.  In so doing, we remain faithful to our calling as humans, to live life to its fullest.  As we pray for each other during these difficult days, let us remember to pray for perseverance and #hope.

Remember, we are on this journey together.

My grace is sufficient for you:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”  (2 #Corinthians 12:9)

We try to stay positive in our challenging world, but there are days when everything seems to fall apart.  And, if we are completely honest, we might even think that our prayers don’t seem to be getting very far.  Apparently Paul, the author of this verse, felt the same way.  It was at this very low point that he heard the words, “My grace is sufficient for you . . .”  Ultimately, no matter how weak or strong we may be, grace will meet us where we are and enable us to face life’s many challenges.  Be sure to open your heart to the possibility of God’s grace.  As John Newton wrote in his famous hymn, Amazing Grace:

Through many dangers, toils, and snares

I have already come.

‘This grace hath brought me safe thus far,

And grace will lead me home!    (John Newton, 1725-1807)
